Estes Design and Manufacturing received a $34,782 grant from the Office of Energy Development. Out of over 100 applicants, Estes is one of only 50 small businesses, nonprofit agencies, higher education institutions, and health care facilities awarded the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. These grants are intended to fund and promote energy conservation projects and programs focused on reducing total energy use and cutting fossil fuel emissions. These improvements in energy efficiency can also help grantees create and retain jobs. Estes is using the grant for two large improvement projects: to install a new HVAC unit with a 90% efficiency rating and to replace all lighting fixtures in the facility with high-efficiency lighting. The total cost of this project is $69,564 and will result in a reduction in energy consumption of over 50%.
