At Estes Design & Manufacturing, we are constantly looking for ways to improve in all facets of our business. As part of our focus on lean manufacturing efforts, the company is conducting our first Kaizen Event from Monday, February 25th to Friday, March 1st. This event will focus on reducing lead-time on a customer’s line of garage cabinets by 50%.
A Kaizen event is a highly focused, action-oriented, 3-5 day improvement workshop where an improvement team takes immediate action to improve a specific process. Any business process, assembly areas, welding stations, machining centers, order entry routines, etc. can be improved using Kaizen. In a Kaizen event, a small group of people get together and concentrate on improving one specific process, making a major improvement in five days or less. A Kaizen event is a good way to get instant but long-lasting results.
What does this mean for you, the customer?
- Reduced lead times
- Improved quality based on fewer defects
- Potential cost reductions
Again, at Estes, continuous improvement is a top priority, and we set up measurement standards to track our progress and will not stop until we exceed our goals.
