How to Conduct Business with Purpose Beyond the Shop Floor
At Estes Design and Manufacturing, we believe business is about more than what we produce—it’s about how we serve people and communities. Excellence and precision drive our work, but purpose gives it meaning. That’s why we partner with two Indianapolis-based ministries: Purposeful Design and Good News Ministries, organizations that embody restoration, dignity, and opportunity.
Creating Tangible Impact in the Community
Both ministries meet people where they are and help them rebuild their lives.
- Purposeful Design offers job readiness, mentoring, and transitional employment for men overcoming trauma, addiction, or incarceration. Estes has partnered with Purposeful Design to train in basic skills to prepare for employment as well as general metal fabricating.
- Good News Ministries provides long-term recovery programs addressing homelessness and addiction through accountability, work experience, and community. Estes has partnered with Good News Ministries in several areas, with the most significant impact coming from outsourcing light assembly work.
Our support impacts programs that deliver skills training, stability, and pathways to independence. We’ve seen how consistent investment enables growth and helps people move from survival to stability.
Why Restoration Matters
Our commitment is rooted in faith. We believe business should reflect God’s call to serve others and bear one another’s burdens. Manufacturing itself is built on the idea of transformation by taking raw materials and shaping them into something stronger, more capable and purposeful. We also see this parallel in people. When support, structure and opportunity are provided, restoration becomes possible, and lives can move forward with dignity and hope.
That’s why Estes invests in ministries focused on long-term change. Restoration takes time, patience and commitment, but it reflects a deeper belief that transformation is worth pursuing.
Strengthening Workplace Culture Through Community
This work also strengthens Estes’ internal culture. Supporting Purposeful Design and Good News Ministries gives our employees a shared sense of pride and connection to something bigger than daily production goals. Community involvement becomes part of our identity, not a side initiative.
Commitment to a Bigger Purpose
Stories of individuals gaining confidence, learning new skills and stepping into healthier futures reinforce why this work matters. Estes plans to deepen these partnerships and explore new ways to create opportunity. Business with purpose isn’t a destination—it’s an ongoing commitment. By investing in the good of humanity, we believe companies can help build stronger communities, and in doing so, become stronger themselves.
